BKBX builds and operates active lifestyles facilities that foster community through rock climbing, fitness, arts and culture, active co-working, and events.

BKBX wanted to improve their fitness classes by offering rock climbing to as many members during one session. With that goal in mind, we decided one iPad application, eight walls and climbing holds with embedded LEDs would do just the trick!
The problem was trainers needed the ability to create, save, and run a class without monitoring the app the entire class. The solution was to simply select a play class button and leave the iPad be. Of course it was easier said than done! With this app, trainers were able to create one class and project that onto each wall so members can simply follow and grab the holds that light up.
After the kickoff meeting, the project manager, software engineer and I went off to the whiteboard with ideas. I researched examples, drew out user flows, built wireframes, prototyped in Omnigraffle and Invision, and went through multiple designs. There was never a quiet day as the team and I communicated through Slack, Jira or in person if needed.
